The Book of Daniel: Prophecy PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE (Chapter 10: Verses 19-21)

The Book of Daniel: Prophecy PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE (Chapter 10: Verses 19-21)

¹⁹ And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. ²⁰ Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. ²¹ But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince – Daniel 10:19-21

OPENING POINTS TO PONDER: As we “diligently” discovered in our previous serous “study” it was in the presence of heavenly “holiness” from the SUPERNATURAL realm, “Daniel” the man “greatly beloved” felt an overpowering sense of “fear” in heart…

Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me – Daniel 10:18

Now here in these NEXT few poignant “passages” the angel “Gabriel” in the “appearance of a man” granted a mighty MESSAGE of eager encouragement ensued in that “Daniel” should ultimately “understand” this validated “vision” as it shall PROPHETICALLY take place at the “time of the end” just as the Holy “scriptures” themselves – Pointedly PROMISE!

Man GREATLY Beloved!

“And” here the HELPER sent from “heaven” above had “said” as he calmly comforts and eagerly encourages the aged “Daniel” in such a WAY that he is surely “strengthened” and can rightly RESUME his coveted conversation with this mandated MESSAGE ministered:

And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me – Daniel 10:19

This “strengthening” angel insists that the devoted “Daniel” need NOT to foolishly “fear” anything. Rather, this mindful “man greatly beloved” is prompted to REST in perfect “peace” of heart and to be “strong” in mind as he is – Surely STRENGTHENED!

BIBLICAL BACKGROUND: Boldly “beginning” with these sincere “supplications” submitted, the constant “commandment” was consented as the angelic MESSENGER named “Gabriel” had completely “came forth” to soundly “shew” unto “Daniel” as the “man greatly beloved” an unwavering “understanding” of the ministry “matter” manifested in this vivacious “vision” from the very moment he boldly BEGAN to powerfully “pray” as such:

At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision – Daniel 9:23

The powerful “prayer” life of the devoted “Daniel” was deeply RIGHTEOUS before our great “God” on High. Along with his consistent CHARACTER of which was constantly commended in kind – Greatly BELOVED by God!

Incidentally, the “angels” are mandated “ministering spirits” for the ELECT holy “heirs of salvation” of which is a very GREAT blessing…

But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? – Hebrews 1:13-14

And as the “angel” encourages “Daniel” him to be “strong” in sound stature, WE too can rightly REFLECT upon “our” blessed “Lord Jesus Christ” Himself…

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him – Matthew 4:11

And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him – Luke 22:43

The “strength” returns quickly unto “Daniel” and he is able to aptly ASK the heavenly messenger to proceed – CONTINUE Conversing!

Next, the mighty “messenger” indicates his PROPHETIC purpose his heavenly visitation unto “Daniel” and the FUTURE concentrated conflicts he will encounter:

Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come – Daniel 10:20

WHY did the angel visit “Daniel” in kind? To gladly GIVE him a unique “understanding” of insolent “Israel’s” fallen FUTURE in an “appointed” apt ANSWER to his personal “prayer” request. However, the “angel’s” pious PRINCIPAL duties were to FIGHT the devilish “spirits” hiding behind the present Persian government. And “Daniel” would also ENCOUNTER other devilish “spirits” lurking behind the coming Greek government when powerful “Persia” fell defeated – Empires EMPLODE!

The magnificent messenger promptly PROMISES to tell “Daniel” the whole “truth” of the FUTURE as it is “written” throughout “scripture” which also involved “Michael” the “prince” presiding over “Israel” and the CREATED angelic archangel of heaven:

But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince – Daniel 10:21

PROPHETIC PROMISE: In spite of other PRESSING Divinely distributed duties in waring with devilish “princes” provoking, “Michael” completely COMMITS to trustworthily “teaching” the devoted “Daniel” the WHOLE counsel of trying “truth” to be told…

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book – Daniel 12:1

Our great “God’s” Divine DECREES for His governments of this waning “world” are diligently DESCRIBED as wonderful “words” of willful WARNING woefully “written” in destined “derision” directed through His Sovereign sure “sore displeasure” dictated…

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion – Psalms 2:1-6

Therefore, “we” too can also KNOW that the sweet “scriptures” are framed “forever” and securely “settled in heaven” by our loving “Lord” eternally…

Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven… Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them forever – Psalms 119:89 & 152

THEOLOGICAL THOUGHTS: And as is it is also “written” in the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy chapter 28 itself, “God” had intently INSPIRED the prophet “Moses” to practically PROMISE the horrible “judgments” upon the nation of “Israel” for their DISOBEDIENCE toward Him…

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out… – Deuteronomy 28:1-6 

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me… – Deuteronomy 28:15-20

Not to mention, their dooming DESTRUCTION denoted from a PROPHETIC perspective within the HISTORICAL record of which was rightly REALIZED in that “dreadful” yearning year – 70 A.D.

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!

The Book of Daniel: Prophecy PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE (Chapter 10: Verses 13-18)

¹³ But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. ¹⁴ Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. ¹⁵ And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. ¹⁶ And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. ¹⁷ For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. ¹⁸ Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me – Daniel 10:13-18

OPENING POINTS TO PONDER: This great “vision” presents the PROPHETIC framework of human HISTORY foretold and “we” are plainly told it is limited to the parched “people” of insolent “Israel” alone:

Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days – Daniel 10:14

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book… And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth forever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished – Daniel 12:1 & 7

The DEVOTED dear “Daniel’s” serious “supplications” had taken “three” whole waning “weeks” to be aptly ANSWERED directly from “heaven” above in full. Similarly, “we” too may never know WHY an anticipated ANSWER on behalf of “our” purposed “prayers” as bold “believers” in the “Lord Jesus Christ” might also be decidedly DETAINED as such – Divine DELAY!

Understand the UNSEEN!

The angelic assistant “Gabriel” now indicates that he had been Divinely DELAYED by a devilish spirit behind the satanic shroud as the powerful “prince” in the “kingdom of Persia” had willingly “withstood” him with a DEMONIC dictate for the prior telling “twenty-one days” in full:

But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia – Daniel 10:13

”But” one of the OTHER chosen “chief princes” had arrived on the scene to “help” concerning the “kings of Persia” of whom had “remained there” with the great “Gabriel” poised in this SUPERNATURAL matter of hostile – HISTORICAL Significance!

THEOLOGICAL THOUGHTS: These same SATANIC servants of whom “withstood” this woeful angelic ASSITANT are elsewhere referred to throughout “Scripture” as purported “principalities” and purposed “powers” and threatening “thrones” and rank “rulers of the darkness” and sordid “spiritual wickedness” and dastardly DEMONIC dooming “dominions” dictated…

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church – Ephesians 1:19-22

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places – Ephesians 6:12

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him – Colossians 1:16

These deranged DEMONS diabolically direct maniacal men behind the sordid secular scene led by “Satan” the willful ENEMY openly opposing the great “God of heaven” Himself…

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it – Luke 4:5-6

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out – John 12:31

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me – John 14:30

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority – Revelation 13:2

Therefore, the CONTEXT of this passage pointing poignantly to “one of the chief princes” and the “prince of the kingdom of Persia” are specifically speaking of a spiritually surmised – SUPERNATURAL Source!

Michael is NOT the Lord Jesus Christ!

WORDS OF WARNING! According to the quazi “Christian” cult corruption coined by the Watchtower Bible and Track Society more popularly known as the so-called “Jehovah’s Witnesses” organization make the satanic caustic CLAIM that our precious “Lord Jesus Christ” is nothing more than a mere ANGEL Himself:

“Michael, the great prince, is none other than Jesus Christ Himself.” ~ The Watchtower - December 15, 1984 (page 29)

Rather, the Bible itself truly TESTIFIES to the fact that ”Michael” is only ONE of the “chief princes” residing in “heaven” and the “archangel” of whom is NOT our loving “Lord Jesus Christ” of Whom “disputed” with the “devil” over the “body of Moses” as such…

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee – Jude 1:9

”Michael” and “his angels” in kind fervently “fought” adamantly “against” the dastardly “dragon” known as the “Devil” and “Satan” along WITH his satanic “angels” of agony…

 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him – Revelation 12:7-9

“Jesus Christ” shall Divinely “descend from heaven” with a Sovereign SHOUT as the victorious “voice of the archangel” calling…

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel – 1 Thessalonians 4:16

“Jesus Christ” Himself had righteously REBUKED His fatally fallen satanic foe “Satan” directly…

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve – Luke 4:8

“Jesus Christ” Himself IS the “Word of God” Who “was with God” and “is God” and “was God” manifested INCARNATE as our great “God” and would certainly NOT have at all struggled with this CREATED fallen foe – LOWLY Satan!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not – John 1:1-5

And “Jesus Christ” Himself is definitely NOT like any created kind of “angel” in the CREATION account:

For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire – Hebrews 1:5-7

The man “Daniel” is here IN the torrid “third year of Cyrus” at this trying “time” and there were DEVILISH spirits reported to be wickedly at work in that pagan “kingdom” realm. Maniacal men FIGHT belligerently back and forth on the pages of world HISTORY as do “angels” & “demons” alike. However, “God” Himself WRITES down – His-Story!

An Anticipated ANNOUNCEMENT!

Then this angelic assistant aptly ANNOUNCES his particular purpose for forth “coming” with the sole focus being placed upon FUTURE revelation concerning “Israel’s” fearsome forthcoming troubles for “many days” mandated:

Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days – Daniel 10:14

BIBLICAL BACKGROUND: The righteous reference to these “latter days” must be limited unto “Israel” herself in the FUTURE of which are DEFINED by their contrast to the “former days” lived BEFORE their “Babylonian” captivity…

The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly – Jeremiah 23:20

Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness in the latter days – Hosea 3:5

Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord… Should ye not hear the words which the Lord hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?... Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts… But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the Lord of hosts… – Zechariah 1:7, 7:7 & 12, 8:12

In spite of the demonic dire HINDERANCE by the “prince of Persia” patsy, the HEAVENLY host will “make” the desperate devoted “Daniel” to ultimately “understand” what WILL indeed “befall” upon his perplexed “people” in the “latter days” in full. And the “vision” itself would NOT take place for “many days” in the FUTURE tense, some 140 years proven PRIOR to when they would begin and 525 years beset BEFORE the consummation of trying “time” to fully “come” in the year 70 A.D. as the great “trouble” leading to “Jerusalem’s” dire “desolation” Divinely determined…

And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book – Daniel 12:1

This vital vestige is of EXTREME importance to surely set appropriate “time” tables and particular “people” limitations intended for these poignant PROPHECIES proclaimed. Therefore, this mandated message should NOT be considered confusing concerning – Israel’s FUTURE Fate!

“And” the angelic ANNOUNCEMENT of which “Daniel” was about to RECEIVE fully from “Gabriel” himself are the dire details of intolerable “Israel’s” fatal FUTURE determined destruction surely SILENCED him:

And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb. And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength – Daniel 10:15-16

This angelic ASSOCIATE of whom was both like and unlike a man surely STRENGTHENS the aged “Daniel” as he was “like” the “similitude” of a human being Sovereignly sent to unequivocally EXPALIN the profound elusive EFFECT this very vexing “vision” had upon him – Excellent EXPLANATION!

Similarly, the prophet “Isaiah“ had equally EXPERIENCED his own “lips” as being “touched” by the angelic “seraphim” sent to assist in kind…

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed – Isaiah 6:5-10

Thus, when his “lips” were “touched” by this heavenly host, “Daniel” had overtly “opened his mouth” to express his sincere “sorrows” that have taken away his “strength” altogether – Spoken SORROW!

Then “Daniel” humbly asks this articulate angel “how” he can possibly “talk” to him WITHOUT the physical “strength” or available “breath” found fleeting within himself:

For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me – Daniel 10:17

Finally, this “one” being in the “appearance of a man” comes yet “again” to purposely PHYSICALLY proceed to tactfully “touch” and solidly “strengthen” the dazed “Daniel” for his convincing conversation with this magnificent MESSENGER manifested from the hosts of “heaven” above:

Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me – Daniel 10:18

PROPHETIC PROMISE: Beloved, there IS indeed a great spiritual CONFLICT taking place in the “heavenly places” of which IS found far beyond our own NATURAL sight in the real realm set amidst both “holy” and “evil” angels…

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all – Ephesians 1:20-23

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father – Philippians 2:5-11 

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it – Colossians 2:15

But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man – Hebrews 2:6-9

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil – 1 John 3:8 

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world – 1 John 4:4

However, our loving “Lord Jesus Christ” Himself from “Nazareth” is far GREATER than absolutely ALL of them – Halleluiah!

Beloved, we MUST be thoroughly thankful for the PROPHETICLY proper interpretation of this vital “vision” given by “God” unto “Gabriel” to pass along to “Daniel” in kind. WHY? So that “we” can have proper PROVISION of a uniform “understanding” and keen “knowledge” of our “Lord’s” loving LIGHT for sanctified souls. In fact, “they” are ALL powerfully “plain” for “them” to behold…

They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge – Proverbs 8:9
